When I talk to people about the work that I do, they can see the excitement that I exude talking about my passion. When I decided to turn my hobby into a business, it was just that, a business -- a way for me to make a living for myself. But as I shot subject after subject and hearing what they had to say in regards to the finished product, I realized why I'm really doing this. I'm changing lives.
My clients have written to me, almost in tears, overcome with emotion, seeing themselves in a light that they never have before. Thanking me for 'making them look so good.' But my reply is usually the same: It's not me that makes you look good. This is what you look like. I simply made sure to catch you at your best moments. In the LGBTQ+ community, we already have to live life under a veil as it is. And then there's the bear community: a subculture that has in the past been shunned from the prettyboy stereotype and dare I say, stigma, of the gay community. While the bear community has grown into quite the monster it is today, there are still individuals who fit that mold, but who aren't confident in themselves enough to embrace it. And that's where I've found my calling. I want to continue to help lift that veil from a community that has shown me what acceptance really is, and encourage my subjects that they are accepted as they are - bear, chub, or an admirer.
