Lighting Tips

Household Items Lighting
Key Light (Main Light Source) This can be anything from a Desk Lamp or a Ring Light Ambient Light (background light) This will add depth/dimension between you and the background and can be anything from another desk lamp, a lit aquarium, LED strips on walls, colored lighting, etc. |

2-Point Lighting
Key Light (Main Light Source) This can include a Ring Light, LED Light, or Softbox. This is best placed 45 degrees from the subject and slightly elevated. Rim/Hair Light (Separation Light) This will separate you from the background and can be anything from another Ring Light, LED Light, or Softbox. This is usually out of the frame, behind the subject, pointing at the subject. |

3-Point Lighting
Key Light (Main Light Source) This can include a Ring Light, LED Light, or Softbox. This is best placed 45 degrees from the subject and slightly elevated. Fill Light (Secondary Light Source) The secondary light will provide even lighting on the subject and reduce shadows. This can include a Ring Light, LED Light, or Softbox. This is best placed 45 degrees opposite of the key light and slightly elevated. Rim/Hair Light (Separation Light) This will separate you from the background and can be anything from another Ring Light, LED Light, or Softbox. This is usually out of the frame, behind the subject, pointing at the subject. |

Posing Tips
- Appear Slimmer: Hold the camera high, tilted down towards you
- Appear Wider/Taller: Hold the camera low, tilted up towards you
- Free Your Arms: Utilize your phone/camera's timer feature to allow you to keep your arms free
- Experiment with Head Positions: Chin up. Head turned. Head tilted. Try different combinations to achieve your best lewks!
- Fake Laugh: When you fake a laugh, you'll feel ridiculous and end up actually laughing at yourself -- this generates a genuine and natural smile!
- Outdoors?: Look for a shaded area with the harsh sun/light in front of you. Since you're in the shade, the bright light outside of the shaded area will light you evenly!
